The annual Festival of the Arts is a month long celebration of the creative work from our faculty, students, and customs partners at UL Lafayette and in the local community.
Its held every yr in the spring and includes theater performances, art gallery exhibits, live music performances, art installations, and and so much more. The Festival of the Arts brings together all of these art forms in a two-week showcase, displaying the best and most meaningful artwork the College of the Arts has produced during the year. Visiting Dancer, Blakey White-McGuire, onetime principal dancer of the Martha Graham Dance Company and onetime soloist with the Jose Límon Dance Company, and with Daniel Fetecua-Soto
"Breath, opposition and weight: Dancing liminal intersections of technique and philosophy through the lens of Modern dance." The visiting residency will be comprised of dance classes exploring approved mod dance forms through the lens of contemporary trip the light fantastic toe practices; specifically, the iconic artistic lineages of Martha Graham and José Límon. Dancers will engage in creative and generative processes through their explorations of existing mod dance repertory and personal motion invention. The project will culminate with the cosmos of an original dance work made of the dancers' ain movement inventions, and a lecture/sit-in with the dancers and the invitee artists.
